$1.25 Buffet in Luang Prabang

This is by far the cheapest buffet that I have ever been in my life. Although unlike most buffets, this one won’t allow you to refill your plate unless you pay again. The vegetarian buffet in Luang Prabang, Laos is a must try for all travellers. For only, 10,000 Kip ($1.25 as of the time of writing) you can put everything that can fit in your plate.

My favorite here includes brocolli, tofu, fried rice, noodles and fresh fruits. Each stall offers different varieties that will definitely quit your taste.

Just put everything that you want in your plate and pay them 10,000 Kip. You also have the option to have the food reheated but they’ll just mix everything up so I’m not sure if it’s a good idea.

If you’re not yet full after eating a whole plate of vegetable dishes, you also have an option to order grilled meat for an additional price. Grilled chicken breast cost 10,000 Kip and grilled fish ost 20,000 Kip. They also have a roasted chicken and grilled pork.

You an find this buffet at the night food market beside Ancient bakery along Sisavangvong Road.

Tip: Bring an Off Lotion, there’s a lot of mosquitoes especially in the rainy season. And the best time to go there is around 6:30PM when food is still fresh and hot.

  1. My kind of buffet! Cheap and full of veggies!

The creamy squash in coconut milk is calling out to me Flip! Glad you enjoyed this buffet in LP. They also had balut at the entrance, did you see it?

  3. No refills! Time to strategically place the food on the plate for maximum height, but then again at 10,000 kip, fill your boots.

I was invited to a party at a bank on Laos Independence Day once, we all sat behind the counter eating the fine food the village had brought. The safe door was open with notes piled high, I exclaimed ‘shouldn’t you really lock that?’ the reply was ‘Nah, it’s worthless!’. Long live Laos!

    Love the blog, regards

The art of stacking food on a plate. Lols.

  5. Ahlavet! But I have to say, I’ve been spoiled by buffets that allow you to get as many plates as you can (I’m a priss and would fill up a plate like 1/4 full at a time)

I need buffet plate stacking practice!

  7. another awesome find from the legend

  8. this sounds awesome. that grilled fish on a stick looks so yummy. i really like the idea of a 1.25 buffet that charges extra for an additional serving and meat. it might help the wallet and bellysize that way.
