No trip in China will ever be complete without sampling their dishes. Chinese cuisine is my favorite, same as Japanese and Thai. It’s simply tasty and flavorful.
Here are some of the dishes I’ve tried in Beijing.

This is my favorite meal among the dishes that I’ve tried in Beijing. I could not remember how many times I ate this in the span of just four days. Spicy Snack is the name of the restaurant near Zhan Zi Zhong Lu subway station.

You’ll be given a plastic tray where you can put your choice of noodles (1 Yuan Each), vegetables and meat (1 – 2 Yuan Each Stick).

For only 5 Yuan (or less), you can already have a sumptuous noodle meal cooked in spicy peanut sauce.
Another favorite is the Guillin Rice Noodles. This dish is famous in China, although nothing beats the original but this small Beijing noodle house did a great job in preparing this dish.

I forgot the name of this restaurant but you can find alot of these kind of noodle house in Zhang Zi Zhong Lu. A bowl of noodles cost around 8-15 yuan depending on the number of ingredients added. this one cost 12 Yuan and the bowl is big enough to be shared with another person.
I’m sure you’ll find alot of these in China. They sell pan-fried meat and vegetables. My favorite is tofu and mushrooms. Price ranges from 1 yuan to 2.5 Yuan.

We found this next restaurant near Nan Luo Gu Xiang, I could not remember the name of the restaurant though except for the sign that says “Authentic Yunan (Yunan is anothe province in China) Dishes”.

Rice with pickled vegetable with toge (mongo sprouts) and stir fried beef. This one cost around 15 Yuan. The beef is too spicy for my taste but I like the pickled vegetables.

I’m drooling as I write this note about the stir fried tofu with dried mushrooms. Just simply flavorful!!! It cost around 8 Yuan.
There are more cheap options around Beijing if you just look and ask around.

Oh I love that spicy peanut sauce, but I had it with fried beef, not noodles. It really is pretty difficult to remember the names of the restos/hawker stands!
