For a budget traveller like me, it has become a habit to check prices before I buy food or drinks anywhere I go. Now that I became a blogger, I also make it to a point to document some of them so you’ll have an idea on what to look for when it comes to cheap meals.
Here are some of the cheapest yet tastiest meals (and drinks) I’ve found in Luang Prabang.
Vegetarian Buffet at Market for 10,000 Kip

Baguette Sandwich near Ancient LP Bakery for 10,000 Kip
Tip: Almost every variety is 10,000 Kip, order the chicken/bacon, cheese and vegetable to get more value for your dollar. You can also buy just the baguette for only 2500 Kip a piece.

Fruit Shake near the Ancient LP Bakery for 5000 Kip

Kao Piak (Noodles) for 8000 Kip and Crepe for 10000 Kip
These are just some of the meals available for not more than $1.50 per serving. There’s a lot more choices available in the market. Alternatively, if cheap food doesn’t ignite your appetite, there’s quite a number of nice restaurants in Luang Prabang (some are even acclaimed by culinary experts around the world) that you can go to.

amazing how street food can sometimes taste better than those on restaurants in our neighboring SEA nations.
the kao piak looks interesting.
kao piak would probably be one of my favorites…
im drooling now that i remember how it tasted
The veggie buffet looks really good. And their baguette must be really good. Mura pa! No sad food adventures, like delhi belly?
no delhi belly tita lili
only drawback is that the place is full of mosquitoes especially during the rainy season…
Same here, lately it became a habit also to check food and drinks prices before buying it (hostel/motel/hotel cost too).

favorite ko ang fruit shakes, saves me from my ultimate favorite… coca-cola! ha ha cheap food ha! ayos!
sarap naman, lalo na pag mura lang, same lang ba yung mga flavor nila sa mga thai food?
mas malasa yung thai food
I’m heading to Laos in a couple of weeks so this is great info!
Great… Now I may have to add Laos to my Asia itinerary. I will already be in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia though…

We’ve been debating adding Laos to the itinerary for a while now and I think we will go for it! Food looks amazing. Thanks for all the posts on SEA food, very helpful!
