Inle Lake Boat Tour Chronicles Part 7 – Monasteries Overload

After our trip to Indein, we then went for a late lunch in one of the ‘floating restaurants’. I wasn’t expecting much since I didn’t read anything about food in Inle and I was surprised in a good way when our food was served. We ordered their special fish dish which was fried and then topped with a variety of sauteed vegetables mixed with egg and it was so delicious! There was a similar dish back home that we called Sarsyado but this one was so much better. I should have taken note of the ingredients so I could tell my mom about it but sadly I forgot to.

Anyway, after lunch we then proceeded to a lot of temples and monasteries and I have forgotten most of their names except the Jumping Cat Monastery. How could you forget a name like that huh! I didn’t see any jumping cats though but there were so many cats lazily sleeping inside the monastery although most of them woke up when they saw the monk that brought them food.

We also went to see the Royal Barges which they say are only used during their festival.

Here are some pictures on our monastery hopping activity that afternoon:

After spending two days exploring the small towns and villages, monasteries, ruins and other interesting sights in Inle Lake, we spent a couple more days just relaxing in Nyaung Shwe. I really hope that they’ll be able to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of this place despite the developments that’s coming their way.
