It was such a pleasant surprise when I got an email from Steffi of BeMyGuest.com.sg to try one of their tours. I was in Myanmar when I received their email but due to the unavailability of steady connection, I wasn’t able to check out the details. After my trip to Myanmar, I was able to continue communicating with them and they helped arrange a tour on my next destination which is Nepal. The tour is a hike from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan.
Sunset in Nagarkot
We met our guide in Kathmandu and we immediately drove up to Nagarkot to catch the beautiful sunset. Nagarkot is one of the most famous destinations in Kathmandu Valley because of the gorgeous sunset and sunrise that can be seen here. Nagarkot is also popular because it gives one of the broadest views of the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas. It is said that you can see 8 out of the 13 from Nagarkot which includes Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Mahalangur and Numbur and of course you could also see Kathmandu Valley from up here and as well as some parts of Shivapuri National Park.
The drive uphill was also beautiful especially after the city proper as you’ll see a lot of lush farms along the way. As soon as we arrived in our hotel, we immediately saw the snow capped mountains on the horizon. It was such a beautiful spectacle to see. Our guide, Bashi was pointing to us the peaks that were clearly seen from our vantage point. He said that on a clearer day, you’d be able to see more of it.
No words could describe how beautiful it was so I’ll just show you some of the pictures I have taken instead.

Fellow travelers waiting on another view point for the sun to set
Beautiful hills!
Gorgeous, isn’t it!
What everyone came here for, to see the snow capped mountains of the Himalayas!
Simply beautiful!
Me taking some pics of this beautiful view.
After the sun set, we ended the day with a sumptuous dinner and went to bed early to prepare for the sunrise the following morning.
Sunrise in Nagarkot
We set our alarm at 6 AM as Bashi, our guide mentioned that the sunrise will be around 6:20 AM. He also mentioned that usually tomorrow morning, we might be able to see more of the snow capped mountains as mornings usually procide a clearer view of the Himalayan vistas.
The following morning, all our fellow tourists were on the view point already waiting for the beautiful spectacle to happen. And after a few minutes of waiting, we were all at awe with the indescribable beauty that unfolded in front of us. Here are some pictures I have taken that doesn’t really did much justice with how beautiful it was.

A fellow spectator!

After staring at the beautiful Himalayan sunrise, we then had our breakfast and prepared our stuff for the hike to Changu Narayan.

One last look before we left the place.
