If you’re thinking of traveling to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh this year, here’s a list of festivals that you might wanna check out. There are a few scheduled festivals in both major cities in Vietnam this month and it’ll be a great way to have fun, meet locals and learn about their local traditions.
Flying to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh from Southeast Asia is quite affordable and easy as both cities are being served by various airlines and budget carriers in this region. If you’re flying from elsewhere like UK, you can safely leave your car at Gatwick Airport Parking and then fly onward to either Hanoi or Saigon.
Once you have ironed out your travel plan to Vietnam, you might want to check out the upcoming festivals in Vietnam this June:
Tet Doan Ngo (Summer Solstice Day)
Tet Doan Ngo is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon and it is when locals usually make offerings to the spirit world to ward off disease, pestilence and other related things. This event also marks the mid-point of the year, or the summer solstice. During this time, celebrations and festivities are bein gheld in locals home and they usually drink local rice wine with family and friends.

Vietnamese Family Day
This event is usually being held during weekends where families prepare meals and drinks to feast on. They also exchange stories and pray. This year’s Vietnamese Family Day is a special one since it also marks the 20th anniversary of The Year of the Family.

Both festivals mentioned above are being observed in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh and also in other places in Vietnam.
Hanoi Music Festival
There’s also an upcoming music festival in Hanoi this coming June 15 at Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace at 8PM. This is a grand and historical event as this would be the first time that the Vietnam’s Music Association have organized a huge program. Expect to see a lot of local performers and top singers of Vietnam to grace the event. The event’s proceeds will be donated to the families living and working at sea and some islands in Vietnam.
