Flipnomad’s Photo Thursday – The Tree of Enlightenment

Mahabodhi

This is the tree where Siddharta Gautama attained enlightenment. It was so surreal to see that it’s still standing in full bloom and seems that it could withstood another round of centuries. You can find this at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya.

  1. Wow, what a cool place to check out. I’d love to see this.

  2. awesome one. I wished really, I can go to India. Crossing my fingers Plif. Sana talaga.

  3. If I did that for as long as he did, they’d probably cut the tree down… I mean I’m pretty awesome, but not that awesome.

  4. Brilliant photo. This is the exact spot Buddha used to sit and think. I used to collect fallen leaves from the tree. Very tranquil place. I belong to the state of Bihar where Buddha came from. I am glad you posted this image.

  5. Hey Flip, sorry it’s been a while. I totally forgot about the chapter you asked me to write. If you still need it, let me know. Again, really sorry, totally “flipped” my mind. Got drugged in thailand right after you contacted me and it really did something bad to my memory. In any case, I always thought the tree of buddha was in Lumbini Nepal? Are there more than one? Best,
    Leif
