Lindsay Hogg or more popularly known online as “The Hogga” is the author and blog owner of the very entertaining and informative The Traveller World Guide and one of my favorite online skit, The Chicken Chunk.
Lindsay sold everything to travel the world for a year last 2010 and now most of her funny and helpful travel experiences can be found in her blog.
Get to know Lindsay more and visit her blog at The Traveller World Guide. And also, don’t forget to check out Chicken Chunk, just some warning though, you might get hooked reading it!
But before you click away, check out my short interview with Lindsay.

How did you discover your passion for travelling?
“My first international trip was to Japan and Australia for 2 months. That shit blew my mind. So when I got home I decided I was going to work my ass off for a year and save to backpack RTW. Haven’t stopped since.”
What’s the most horrible experience that you’ve had on the road?
“I actually can’t think of anything that I don’t look back and laugh at now. Missing my flight home after a 10 hour layover. Having to pay off cops in Peru. Getting super sick from accidentally drinking tap water in South America, I thought I was going to die. The list continues…”
What’s the best travel experience that you’ve ever had?
“There are too many. Making new friends, scuba diving, hiking to ruins, partying until the sun comes up, fishing, making out with boys, learning new languages, trying new foods and on and on. ”

What’s the biggest realization that you’ve got out of travelling?
“That life just keeps getting more confusing and to stop trying to figure everything out in one day. Just ride the wave and enjoy every second.”
What keeps you going? What keeps you motivated?
“The fact that, if I was home for a week I would be dying to leave again.”
This is a silly and hypothetical one. If you would be given a chance to travel with a popular person or a celebrity, who would it be and why?
“Daemon from the Vampire Diaries. Because I want him in my pants.”

Where’s your favourite place in this planet and why?
“This is an unanswerable question. The excitement of busy Tokyo, the beauty of Cusco, the friendships made in Costa Rica, the parties in Beijing… ”
What’s your best tip for newbie traveller?
“Take everything with a grain of salt, shit happens. I went 2 weeks without a hairbrush once (sexy, I know). I had my flip flops stolen 2X, went to the bar in my socks and walked from a boat to the city barefoot the other time. Stolen ipod, missed flights, language barriers, it’s all part of traveling. Just don’t let it get you down.”
What’s the funniest and silliest thing you’ve ever done while travelling?
“I do silly things on a daily basis. I can tell you the stupidest thing I’ve ever done is get on a boat hungover. I keep doing it and have to curl into a ball because I feel like dying. I never learn
”
What do you think about yourself?
“I high five myself in the mirror every morning.”

Haha I enjoy that I’m both ‘too funny’ and have moved up to, within minutes… to ‘one of the funniest people you know’.
I win at life.
Ohh.. I’ve definitely gotten on a boat hungover. There is actually a picture taken of my sisters on a family vacation and you can see my heading for the bathroom in the background!
BAHAHHAA.. that’s classic! I want to see this picture you speak of.
