Five Landmarks I Visited in Paris

I had a chance to visit Paris a couple of years ago and enjoyed it so much. I was also lucky that a friend of mine whom I met in my past travels lives there and took me for a long walk to see some of the famous landmarks of Paris.

Eiffel Tower

Five Landmarks I Visited in Paris

Eiffel Tower would undoubtedly be the most famous landmark of this beautiful city. Historically, it was built in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair. Rumor has it that it was supposed to be taken down after the fair but had been decided to just conserve it instead.

The Louvre

La Louvre

The Louvre became one of the world’s most famous iconic structures after being part of some scenes of Da Vinci Code. Hollywood stories aside, the Louvre is one of the largest museum in the world and is also said to be the most visited as well. It houses famous works of art including Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

Notre Dame de Paris

Notre Dame

Notre Dame is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris. It is also globally known as one of the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress or arched exterior supports. The cathedral’s architecture is impressive and unique in it’s own ways ande definitely worth a visit.

Fontaines de la Concorde

Fontaines de la Concorde

Fontaines de la Concorde is another world famous landmark in Paris. It was completed in 1840 during the reign of King Louis-Philippe. The sculptures in the fountains were made by various artists and it symbolizes the maritime spirit of France.

Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe is another famous landmark in Paris that stands in the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs Elysees. Shoppers who frequents Paris are very familiar to this monument since it’s just a stone throw away from shops of some famous luxury brands.

These are just some of the landmarks that I visited in Paris and I was really mesmerized by the beauty of this city. If given a chance to go back, I would definitely stay longer to savour the richness of Paris’s historical and cultural heritage.
