Festivals and Fairs that I Want to Experience in Barcelona

I have always been fascinated with European arts, culture and tradition after experiencing a week in France a couple of years ago. And I’ve been wanting to visit more European cities and one of those that I want to visit in the future is Barcelona. Aside from seeing various famous landmarks and architectures, I also want to attend various festivals and fairs that are being held in and around this city. Here are some of the festivals and fairs that I want to experience in Barcelona:

Monegros Desert Festival

Monegros Desert Festival would probably be the biggest and most famous electronic music festival in Spain and is being held in the desert of Fraga, 200km from Barcelona. tens and Thousands of visitors every July go here. It’s an awesome way to celebrate electronic musi with fellow enthusiasts.

Festes de la Mercè

Festes de la Mercè is Barcelona’s main festival which is being held annually around the 24th of September. There are many fun events such as formation the highest human tower, music events, firework displays and processions involving wooden giants.

Fira de Santa Llúcia

Fira de Santa Llúcia

Fira de Santa Llúcia is probably one of the oldest fair (started 1786) that is still being held up to this year. It is being held annually from December 2nd to 23rd. This is the oldest fair dedicated to Nativity scenes and Christmas traditions. Christmas objects are being sold in various places including small wooden sculptures and other stuff created by local artisans.
