Prayer Wheel – Shangri-La (Zhongdian), China
This would probably be the biggest praying wheel or mani wheel that I’ve ever seen in my life.
According to some text, prayer wheels are used to accumulate wisdom and to purify negativities. It is often made of metal, wood, stone, leather and other materials and the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is written in Sanskrit on the outside of the wheel.
I’ve seen prayer wheels in most Buddhist countries that I’ve been to such as Thailand, China and Japan but only in the small villages in Southwest China did I see common people carrying and using it every now and then.

Oh cool, I’m in Lijiang now….so close to Shangri-la, but it’s too cold up there now, don’t think I’ll reach it.
