Sleeping in Airports – Changi Airport in Pictures

After spending almost a month in Indonesia (almost three weeks in Bali and a week in Yogya), we flew to Singapore and decided to spend the night in Changi Airport and take the bus first thing in the morning to Johor Bahru en route to Malacca.

I’ve slept in some airports in my previous trips. In my past travels, I’ve slept in the airports of Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Kolkata, Guangzhou and Nagoya.

And among the airports that I’ve slept in, Changi Airport of Singapore is the most comfortable. I actually had a hard time just staying in one place because of the variety of entertainment options that they have.

Here are some of the facilities that will greet you in Changi:

Big Tip: If you decide to finally rest after enjoying all those nice free facilities, there are quieter spots where you can lie down and sleep. Make sure that you secure your belongings especially your travel documents before you go to dreamland.

Have fun at Changi!

(Sigh) If only at least one airport here in the USA were half as commodious and inviting as those in Asia and Europe! The US international airports are generally an embarassment. It is a shame that many visitors’ first experience in the US is walking through the unfriendly dungeon that is LAX.

Sorry we didn’t meet up last December, Flip. Perhaps this year?

perhaps on your next trip this year Jodi… i also wanna see Incheon airport, they say its one of the most modern airports in the world…

  2. i just love this. If id be asked to sleep in airports, I’d be happiest! haha. the video console and the movie theater is great respite from the travels we do. I love the gardens too.

  3. amazing photos Flip! i love Changi.

  4. Their airport looks very clean and relaxing. Very inviting for someone who has never tried out of the country trip!

  5. We were just there last night on our trip back to Kuala Lumpur. Yes, Changi is pretty amazing and I guess Singapore in general except everything is expensive. I like the nice touches too which are not present in North American and European airports—a place to repackage your bag with a weighing scale next to it, computers with free Internet access, 24×7 post office on Terminal 2, etc. Oh, and the bathroom, at least the one I used at Terminal 1, was spotless … like a five-star hotel!

We’ll be in KL until January 30 before heading to Manila. It will be great if we can meet.

  6. Changi is the only airport we’ve ever scheduled a longer stop over just so we can hang out. We’ve got 10 hours there on the way home from Bangkok to New Zealand next month and it should be a perfect place for a few hours of stretched out sleeping, good eating and maybe even a dip in their pool. Nice to see that its still in good shape!

(PS The free shuttle bus into the city centre is awesome too)

haha same here, id love to spend more time and just enjoy the facilities in Changi

    • Just wanted to add for those who may not know the pool is in Terminal 1 so if you arrive in another terminal take the free shuttle. Or if you love shopping Terminal 3 is an amazing place to find great shoes and bags… or just to admire great architecture.

  7. Changi was the first airport that I stepped in a foreign land and I really admired it in its totality. Glad to hear that it has more facilities now compared to what I had seen more than 4 years ago.

  8. Thank you for sharing, we are planning to go to SIN soon. We may try checking out the facilities in Changi before heading to our hotel. Keep traveling and blogging! ;)

  9. Sleeping in an airport is one of the things I have to scratch yet from my bucket list. I would definitely try that out when I set foot to Changi this coming June. Wish me luck!
