How to go to Genting Highlands from Penang Island

After searching the internet, I didn’t find some post about how to go directly to Genting Highlands from Penang. Most of the information online are about the KL-Genting Highland routes. We were preparing ourselves to go to KL then to go to Genting. But the stubborn kid in me decided to go and asked around for a direct route.

What we did was we went straight to Komtar bus station from our hostel and asked if there’s any direct bus to Genting Highlands. We were then pointed to a travel agency in front of the bus station. The travel agency sells tour packages and also bus tickets to Genting Highlands.

The ticket cost 35 Ringgit each and the trip took almost eight hours because of frequent stops that we did.

The bus have huge comfortable seats and large windows. The roadside view from Penang to Genting is really beautiful so try not to sleep on your way to Genting Highlands.

We got lucky with our accommodation too. There’s a current online promotion and we only paid 48RM for a double room in First World Hotel (they say that this is the world’s largest hotel). Instead of a day trip to Genting, we all decided to stay for three days because of this promotion.

If you’re coming from KL, there’re more options on how to go to Genting Highlands.

Genting Highlands is a favorite destination for local tourists because of its cool climate, theme park and for some, the casino.

Enjoy your trip to Genting!
