Starting with The End in Mind: The End of Flipnomad

My journey in blogging has been a wonderful learning experience and it did open a lot of doors for me. I got introduced to a lot of possibilities that I could venture to in the future. In fact, I already have started experimenting with ten more sites to learn other ways of online monetization. And as days go by, I learn more and more about the economics of internet to the extent that I’m now considering ending my travel blog. The end of Flipnomad may not be that soon though, as this is one of my main income stream as of the moment but I feel that it’s on its way.

To be fair with the blog, I started it with the end in mind.

Everything ends. Sooner or later technology will change and so does the way we exchange information. Monetization strategies change, the way we value things change and the only way to survive well is to adapt early and adapt strategically.

The end may not mean totally closing the blog, I’m actually toying with various new ideas to maximize its existence such as:

1. Multiple voices by involving multiple writers
2. Change of ownership

These options came about based on the following consideration:

Cost of Existence + Time Consumed = Target Output Generated

This blog was made to be monetized and it does deliver what it has been made to do. But blogging consumes too much time and I think there’re more options to generate the same output with less time.

I am a traveller first before a blogger and I would always prefer to involve myself with things that will generate maximum output over minimum input and I realized that there’s a lot more options that I could do. If I could free myself more time while generating more income streams then better so I could laze around the beach more or do something new.

I don’t know where this would lead but I surely had a great time building this blog.

I couldn’t give you as well an exact date yet, maybe this year or next year or the year after but I’ll definitely keep you in the loop.

For the meantime, I’ll still keep sharing my travel adventures with you. So, keep on readin’ and ‘hope that you’re learning something from whatever I’m doing. :-)

That’d sad to hear, but great to know you intend to keep on traveling! Just relax Flip, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to post. You posted a lot of valuable information here and I’m sure a lot of travelers would appreciate that.

If you want to talk travel or just about anything, you know where to find me :D

sounds like you’ve got a cool journey with the whole monetization thing. I could never figure that stuff out or have the patience to :( Guess it’s not really my thing.. But I’m glad to hear the end may just be the beginning!

Kidding aside, i know that you have other online ventures outside Flipnomad. It’s not easy but you can do it. Remember, ikaw ang isa sa nagpu-push sa akin kaya ikaw ipu-push din kita! Hehe Happy Trip Flip! Chat lang kapag bored haha :D

I am personally sad about this, Flip. Even now I feel like I am going to miss your blog. But I am sure there are bigger things waiting for you. At least you’re still traveling. While we won’t get that much chance to read most of your stories in the future, I still hope you’ll continue to write for us. God bless, Flip. I am praying for more blessings to come your way. :-)

    Good luck Flip!
Sadness naman, the one blog that really does inspire me to push further and further. sayang naman. :)
oh well, on to the next destination! :D

  7. Hey Flip, I’ve done a lot of travel and living overseas and I’m now just starting my blog. I wonder if I will come to the same conclusions you’ve reached after some time. I already feel the commitment of blogging is quite time consuming. There are so many aspects of blogging (not just creating your own material) that come along with it. I may decide that it’s not worth the effort or that my blog is just more of a hobby and I’ll update when I have an urge. For the time being I’m quite serious about giving it a go for now. I hope whatever you decide that it will lead to more travels.

  8. Nothing you enjoy should ever ever be cumbersome. If you enjoy traveling, that’s good. I do too. If you enjoy blogging (and it butters your bread), fine. If you enjoy both, then it’s perfect. Best to do only that which we enjoy. Otherwise, we’d be missing out on LIFE!

Btw, this one’s a fan of yours. ;-)

Ey Flip, I admire your dedication on lifestyle design. You did what I’ve been trying to do for the longest time and have done it in a short span of time. Thank you for sharing tips and for continuing to introduce innovation even in other aspects of blogging. I’ll be preparing my questions for you soon. I’m almost done publishing the first interview session so I’m excited on this new project too.

Let’s continue with our other ventures online and grow further! :D

Noooo don’t end it! I get it though. When I went back to work, I transitioned my blog from something that paid my rent money and I was just positioning to monetize more to a fun hobby. It’s been very hard. I also put a lot of pressure on myself in general, so it’s been hard… But I have a feeling you’d miss your personal blog. ;-)
