Branching Out From Affordable London Hotel Rooms

If you have recently decided to visit London, and have done the hard work of choosing the best accommodation option from the many hostel and hotel rooms available, then it is likely that you are now trying to form a solid itinerary for your trip.

London has so many things to offer to a tourist that it is unlikely anyone could cover everything in a matter of a few days. This is why formulating a solid itinerary is crucial for making the most out of your trip. Here are some activities and attractions to consider.

London, England

A Simple Walk

London redefines the whole concept of a simple walk. Instead of being a mundane, routine exercise, the city makes walking extremely entertaining and fulfilling. The reason for this is simply the beauty of the city, combined with the wide array of Royal Parks to choose from.

Spending half a day walking through the Royal Parks of London can be an experience to cherish. A walk like this could include Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St. James’ Park.

Live Music of all Types

London is widely regarded for its ties to the music world and has launched or been a major part of a variety of music movements throughout the world. As a result of this rich musical heritage, the city of London is never short when it comes to live music events and concerts, whether you are looking for conventional western classical music or modern and contemporary genres. Furthermore, the range of concerts and live music events offered by the city at any given time are accessible even for tourists on a strict budget.

A History of Theatre

The city of London not only holds deep ties with the history of music but also has a major involvement in the history of theatre. The West End, which consists of Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Haymarket and Shaftesbury Avenue is one of the most famous destinations in Europe for theatre fans. Furthermore, London also boasts of South Bank which consists of the famous National Theatre and the Globe Theatre. In addition, there is also The Fringe to consider which includes every theatre option apart from the ones mentioned above.

The Football Capital of the World

Arguably, London can be called the football capital of the world. The city has over 20 professional football clubs, of which the most popular include Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Chelsea and Fulham.

Owing to the fact that they hail from the same city, all of these clubs are bitter rivals and matches between them are known to be highly charged, emotional affairs. Other important football clubs based in London include Queen’s Park Rangers, Millwall, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace.

The Open House London Weekend gives people an opportunity to discover the history of London in extreme detail and depth because, over this weekend, buildings of historical value are opened to the public. The Open House London Weekend is usually held in the third weekend of September.

The Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is one of London’s most recognisable sights, partly because it is one of the first of its kind. The museum consists of some very important exhibits pertaining to the history of the natural world. The most famous aspect of the Natural History Museum’s collection is its permanent dinosaur exhibition.

The Range of Culinary Cuisines

London is often regarded as a multiethnic city because of the variety of cultures it supports. The diversity of the city’s population makes it particularly special when it comes to food.

Some popular places to eat include:

• Brick Lane: famous for Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine
• Brixton: known for its African and Caribbean food
• Chinatown: famous, of course for Chinese delicacies
• Edgware Road: a centre for Middle Eastern cooking
• Drummond Street: renowned for its Indian restaurants, and in particular its vegetarian establishments
• Golders Green: known for its Jewish fare
• Kingsland Road: a popular place to eat cheap Vietnamese cuisine
• Finsbury Park: renowned for its Greek and Turkish restaurants

London has a huge amount to offer any visitor. In fact, there is so much to see that it is worth consulting at least one or two London travel guides when constructing your itinerary, in order that you don’t miss out on that truly memorable experience.
