December 2010 Wrap Up

December was spent lazing around with friends, reading tons of EBooks, hanging out at home or eating out in some restaurants nearby. It’s indeed a lazy holiday season for me.

It’s also the most profitable month for my website which really got me inspired to try becoming a full time blogger and build more online ventures.

Big thanks to the Philippine Blog Awards for recognizing Flipnomad as one of the finalist in the Philippine Travel Blog department. And the award went to one of my favourite travel blogs in the Philippines (which I also wrote as the Top Travel Blog for 2010)… Justwandering.org, if you haven’t checked it yet, I suggest you check it after reading this and follow Nina in Twitter and Facebook too.

Big thanks also to Mapo.Co.NZ for including Flipnomad in the 100 Most Influential Travel Bloggers, the site gets updated daily so I’m not sure how long will I stay on the list. They score the blogs base on Klout, Compete and Alexa overall ranking. It’s indeed flattering to be recognized just by doing something that you really love (and to be on the same list with the blogs that I look up to).

For December “Meet the Nomads”, I featured Edcel Suyo of Soloflighted, James Betia of Journeying James, Gael Hilotin of The Pinay Solo Backpacker and Craig Martin of Indie Travel Podcast.

I also shared some tips about booking RT flights, packing and cheap ways on enjoying luxury hotel stays. I also hosted a post about Bangkok, one of my favourite cities in Asia.

Ready for 2011

Since I’m enjoying this blogging thingy so much, I’ve decided to up my game a bit.

I made the move to WordPress last December 12 and upgraded my template. Flipnomad is now running on Genesis Framework and it’s now hosted by Hostgator. Just in case you want to move to Hostgator, let me know so I could give you a discount coupon.

It’s such a bold move and a little costly as well, but I believe that this is the best investment I’ve ever made.

What’s in store for 2011? Definitely build a couple more websites about various topics that I love and believe in. I’m also gonna move somewhere to start my experimental minimalist beach bumming life. I also booked myself  a one way ticket (yup, just one-way) going to a place that will never run out of dumplings. I love surprising myself.

Big Thanks

Thanks to everyone who spent a minute or two reading my articles and sharing the adventure with me. I suggest that you also start your own adventure soon.

Thanks to everyone who shared a bit of their lives thru the “Meet the Nomads” interview portion. May we inspire more people to travel and see beyond the four corners of their cubicles.

Thanks to those who are courageously living their lives even if it’s like swimming against the current of this society. You’ve become my source of inspiration to try and stay unemployed but more productive and happier.

Wishing everyone a happier 2011.
